London: Electronic devices like Apple AirPods Pro charging case, Pencil second Generation, and the Microsoft Surface Pen can slow down life-saving heart gadgets and prevent them from working, scientists have cautioned.


Scientists from the University of Basel in Switzerland asserted that AirPods, 'pencils' and iPhones have strong attractive fields that might actually stop embedded heart gadgets (ICD) working, Daily Mail revealed.


As per the group, 'any' electrical gadget containing a magnet could hypothetically represent a 'threat' to patients who depend on ICDs to shock their heart back into musicality, the report said.


"The public should know about the possible dangers of versatile electronic gadgets," Dr Sven Knecht, from the varsity was cited as saying.

"These gadgets can cause an issue when conveyed in your shirt or coat pocket before the chest, as well as when you are lying on the love seat and resting the electronic gadget on your chest," he added.


The review, distributed in the diary of the American Heart Association, showed the Apple items couldn't be put nearer than 0.78inches, or 2 cm, without disrupting ICDs.

However, the Microsoft item, which costs 70 pounds, couldn't be inside 1.1 inch (2.9 cm), the report said.
